Contemporary Fused Glass Jewelry

One of a kind contemporary designer jewelry. The stones are porcelain in which broken chips of glass are fused to the porcelain with a glaze-china composite that adds the texture. The glass chips melt randomly creating a “gem” within the structure. The background is glazed with various colors to accent or match the glass “gem”. The textured areas are gold-leafed which brings out a brilliant shine of gold. The process from start to finish requires a minimum of 9 firing days which consists of 4 firings, drying and cooling time.

Each fused porcelain stone is than made into earrings, pendants or brooches. Hand made settings are done in a technique called custom wire wrapping where sterling silver or 14 Kt gold-filled wire is twisted and curved to hold the porcelain stone. This technique yields a truly one of a kind piece of jewelry with a flair in how the wire is transformed individually into a frame for that particular piece as the artist’s eye sees it. Some pieces are enhanced with pearls of various colors or semi-precious beads. Other pieces are strung on matching fresh water pearls. Thereby creating a one of a kind piece of wearable art.
